NBA Playoffs: Lakers Advance After Game 2 Win Over Pelicans
Davis, Russell Power Lakers to Victory
Third Consecutive Win for Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Lakers have advanced to the second round of the NBA playoffs after defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 112-99 in Game 2 on Tuesday night.
Anthony Davis led the way for the Lakers with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while D'Angelo Russell added 21 points, including five three-pointers. LeBron James also contributed 18 points and 10 assists, and was perfect from the free-throw line (10-of-10).
The Pelicans were led by Brandon Ingram, who scored 25 points. Zion Williamson added 21 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lakers' balanced attack.
The Lakers shot 46.7% from the field, compared to 42.3% for the Pelicans. Los Angeles also hit 13 three-pointers, while New Orleans made just seven.
The Lakers will now face the defending champion Denver Nuggets in the second round. Game 1 of that series is scheduled for Thursday night in Denver.
